Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley is the region’s only designated freestanding pediatric specialty hospital, offering PICU, Level III NICU, Emergency Services, Surgery, and other pediatric programs like rehabilitation and the Child Life Program to enhance access to specialized care for children in the Rio Grande Valley.

The South Texas Health System (STHS) includes five acute hospitals and one behavioral hospital that all serve the Rio Grande Valley community. South Texas Health System Edinburg received the Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for two years in a row from Healthgrades in 2019 and 2020, and was named among the Top 10 percent in the Nation for Patient Safety. STHS Edinburg was also listed among the Best Maternity Hospitals 2021 by Newsweek. In addition, STHS Edinburg is an accredited Chest Pain Center, a certified primary stroke center and a designated Level IV Trauma Center.
