Edinburg’s Tourism Industry

Welcoming New Visitors

Edinburg is the perfect destination for experiencing something new in Texas. With endless opportunities for outdoor activity and cultural enrichment through our local museums and festivals, it is no wonder that tourism is booming in Edinburg. From HEB Park to the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands, our attractions serve as anchors for RGV visitors on both sides of the border. With 130 restaurants, 80 stores, and 12 hotels, the tourism scene in Edinburg continues to grow in its strength and reputation.

For families, Edinburg is a place to unplug from TV or social media, and plug into one-of-a-kind events and historical festivals; to trade in views of city skylines for views of the beautiful Rio Grande Valley. And our tourism industry would be nothing without our passionate and welcoming community of Edinburg residents supporting it. “Stranger” is not a word in our vocabulary here, and our hospitable community ensures that visitors always feel welcome.

Where Our Visitors Go

The Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center has been attracting outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers to our city from around the world since opening in 2003. We are proud to be home to the first World Birding Center, and invite visitors to relax in our tranquil environment.

For visitors looking to enrich themselves in the arts, culture and heritage of our region, the Edinburg Cultural Arts Division hosts and organizes events and festivals for all interests–from film festivals to heritage events and parades celebrating our city’s culture, to the annual Edinburg UFO Festival. The Museum of South Texas History’s exhibits and programs attract visitors from across South Texas to connect deeply with their heritage and learn more about the region’s history.

For adventure-seekers and sports fans, HEB Park, RGV FC Toros, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and plenty of concerts, events, and live entertainment at Bert Ogden Arena attract visitors to cheer on their favorite team or see a headlining artist perform.
