Edinburg, TX— The City of Edinburg is once again making headlines as one of the fastest-growing cities in America, according to the latest 2024 population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Edinburg’s population rose from 105,956 in 2023 to 108,733 in 2024—an increase of 2.62%. This surge places Edinburg 25th in the nation for fastest percentage growth among cities with populations of 100,000 or more, and 10th in the state of Texas. The city also stands out as the fastest-growing municipality in the Rio Grande Valley.
“Edinburg is a city on the rise,” said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. “This continued growth reflects the strength of our community and the results of our focused investments in quality of life, infrastructure, and economic opportunity.”
Adding to this momentum, the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) announced a major milestone with the acquisition of the historic Echo Hotel property by Zoho Corporation—a global software company based in Austin. Zoho finalized the purchase in April, with plans to redevelop the site into a state-of-the-art office campus, marking a significant expansion of its operations in the Rio Grande Valley. Widely known for its suite of online business applications, Zoho serves millions of users around the world, and its decision to grow in Edinburg reinforces the city’s appeal as a regional hub for innovation and business growth.
“Our growth rate confirms that people see Edinburg as a place to put down roots and pursue their dreams,” said Raudel Garza, EEDC Executive Director. “We’re leading the Rio Grande Valley not only in population growth but also in economic expansion, with new businesses, jobs, and opportunities taking shape throughout the city. Zoho’s investment is a prime example of that trajectory.”
City leaders credit Edinburg’s strategic development approach—including sustained investment in infrastructure, education, and entrepreneurship—as key to its continued success. The city’s collaborative efforts to foster a welcoming environment for families, students, and industry have positioned it as a magnet for growth and innovation.
As a four-time All-America City, Edinburg continues to live up to its national recognition, demonstrating civic excellence, community spirit, and a commitment to forward-thinking development. The combination of record-setting growth and high-impact investments affirms Edinburg’s role as a dynamic and thriving center for progress in South Texas.
