The City of Edinburg Launches SPARC 3.0

City Accepting Applications for Third Round of Stimulus Recovery
Program for Local Businesses

EDINBURG, Texas– The City of Edinburg’s Stimulus Program Aimed at Recovery from
COVID19 (S.P.A.R.C.) assists locally-owned businesses with economic recovery from the
coronavirus pandemic. SPARC provides businesses and residents a financial means to invest
back into their local Edinburg economy. It is comprised of two major components: Direct-to-
Business Grant Program where eligible businesses will be awarded $2,000 in grant funding to
use towards operations, and the Resident-to-Business Gift Card Program, where the City will
distribute $100 gift cards to 8,000 eligible households to spend and reinvest in Edinburg SPARC
approved businesses.

Initially funded through the CARES Act, the City of Edinburg launched SPARC 1.0 & 2.0 in
July and August of 2020. To date, the S.P.A.R.C. program has awarded over $1.1M in grants and
$800,000 in gift cards for 560 locally-owned small businesses. The newly launched SPARC 3.0
was designed with similar principles and goals in mind, but utilizes funding from the 2021
America Rescue Plan.

The City of Edinburg is accepting applications from local businesses as Phase 1 of the SPARC
3.0 ‘Business Grant Program’ starting today July 21, 2021 through August 6, 2021.
Details of Phase 2 of SPARC 3.0 ‘Resident-to-Business Gift Card Program’ will be announced at
a later date.
