The August jobs report for metropolitan areas is out this week, and it’s a good one for Edinburg.
Job growth in the Edinburg metro area was 5.5% in August on a year-over-year basis, keeping pace with the statewide economy and ranking fourth highest among the 25 metros in Texas.

Employers in the region reported a net gain of 14,000 jobs in August compared to a year earlier.
Comparing employment levels in August 2021 to pre-pandemic August 2019, the Edinburg metro area has now achieved full recovery, with a net increase of about 2,500 jobs.
