On November 5, 2018, Edinburg EDC Board Vice-President Mike Farias, Executive Director Joey Trevino, and Workforce Development and Special Events Coordinator Michael Balderas attended the Texas Oil and Gas Association’s Energy Summit in Pharr to hear an update on the economic, workforce, and international impact of the industry in our state and region.
Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) is a statewide trade association with approximately 5,000 members representing every facet of the Texas oil and gas industry including small independents and major producers. Founded in 1919, TXOGA is the oldest and largest group in the State representing petroleum interests and continues to serve as the only organization which embraces all segments of the industry.
The summit provided attendees with information regarding the economic and labor impact of the oil and gas industry in the state and in the Rio Grande Valley. With new upcoming ventures revolving around the industry, the information was key to bring awareness and education to the region as we prepare for the future impact it will have on our local economy.
