Edinburg EDC and Workforce Solution Partner to Host Job Fair on Thursday, January 17, 2018, at Dustin Sekula Memorial Library

Edinburg, Texas – The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and Workforce Solutions have partnered to host a Job Fair for the Edinburg community. Employers from throughout the area are expected to participate including the City of Edinburg, Biomat USA, Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance, Edinburg CISD, Goodwill Industries, South Texas Health Systems, Wonderful Citrus and many more. The Job Fair will take place on Thursday, January 17, 2018, from 8 am to 1 pm at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library.

“We are experiencing phenomenal growth throughout the city with more and more job creation and opportunity for our community,” said Edinburg Economic Development Director Joey Treviño. “As we prepare for this growth, we are working together with Workforce Solutions to ensure that these jobs are filled, continuing to decrease our unemployment rate.”

In the last few months, Edinburg has experienced the lowest unemployment rates the city has seen in over 9 years.

“This decrease in our unemployment rate is directly attributed to our growth in business development,” stated Michael Balderas, Coordinator of Workforce Development, Small Business and Special Events at the Edinburg EDC. “We are proud to have so many new businesses opening shop in the City of Edinburg and are hosting this job fair to ensure that our community knows about the many job opportunities available to them,” he added.

Over 20 employers from retail, restaurants, schools, healthcare, telecommunications, government, produce, and other industries will be on-hand to meet with prospective applicants and future employees.

“We invite the community to join us at the Job Fair and encourage them to come learn more about the different employment opportunities available to them in the City of Edinburg,” added Edinburg Mayor and Edinburg EDC Board Director Richard Molina. “Something Good is Happening Here” and we look forward to continuing to provide job creation and growth for our residents and to help our businesses find the right employers,” he said.
